Prabowo calls for stronger ASEAN–S. Korea digital cooperation at Kuala Lumpur Summit
President Prabowo Subianto on Monday attended the 26th ASEAN–South Korea Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he highlighted the potential of digital synergy between ASEAN and South Korea as a driving force for regional transformation.
Prabowo said ASEAN’s growing digital potential and South Korea’s technological strength could complement each other in advancing digital infrastructure, talent development, and governance of artificial intelligence (AI).
“We aspire for ASEAN to thrive as a vital engine of global growth,” the Indonesian president said.
He emphasized that strengthening economic cooperation is key to achieving regional stability and prosperity, and called for an expansion of the ASEAN–South Korea free trade area.
Prabowo noted that ASEAN is on track to become one of the world’s most dynamic digital markets, with the region’s gross digital trade value projected to reach US$1 trillion (around Rp16,000 trillion) by 2030.
The President also underscored the importance of maintaining peace and stability as the foundation for shared economic development. He reaffirmed Indonesia’s support for South Korea’s constructive role in promoting global peace.
“The ASEAN–South Korea partnership must be a force for good − bringing peace and prosperity to all,” Prabowo said.
