Private EV charging operators set up association to support Indonesia’s EV ecosystem
In support of Indonesia’s electric vehicle (EV) industry, private-sector operators officially launched the Indonesia Association of Private-Sector Public EV Charging Owners (ASPELUSI) during the International Indonesia Sustainability Forum (IISF) 2025 in Jakarta, on Friday, October 10, 2025.
The declaration was witnessed by prominent national figures including Chaiman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Anindya Bakrie, and fellow Kadin executives Shinta Kamdani, Dharsono Hartono, Nadia Habibie, Elim Sritaba, and Ronald Walla.
“ASPELUSI was born out of the shared commitment among private players to strengthen Indonesia’s EV ecosystem,” ASPELUSI Chairman and Managing Director of Utomo Chargeplus, Anthony Utomo, said.
“We believe that acceleration of green transition can only be achieved when the public and private sectors move together toward the same vision,” he cited.
ASPELUSI serves as a collaborative and advocacy platform for EV charging station operators, investors, and entrepreneurs. It aims to represent the interests of private stakeholders while aligning with the government’s goal of achieving Net Zero Emission by 2060.
As part of its formalization process, ASPELUSI will register as an Extraordinary Member (ALB) under Kadinin accordance with Law No. 1/1987. The move ensures the association’s legal legitimacy and integration within Indonesia’s broader business ecosystem.
“By joining Kadin, ASPELUSI reinforces its commitment to work hand in hand with the government and private sector in developing sustainable EV infrastructure,” Anthony said.
The initiative gained support from the government, which views ASPELUSI’s establishment as integral to government strategy for industrial downstreaming and clean energy transition.
“The IISF 2025 is more than a discussion platform − it’s a showcase of Indonesia’s leadership in downstream industry, renewable energy, and the green economy. It’s an opportunity to forge real partnerships that will bring tangible impact for future generations,” Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry Rosan Perkasa Roeslani said in his opening remarks.
Business leaders also expressed optimism that ASPELUSI would create new opportunities for green investment and cross-sector collaboration.
“We are committed to becoming a strategic partner for the government in promoting green and blue investments,” ASPELUSI’s Advisory Board Chair and Vice Chair of Kadin, Shinta Kamdani cited.
ASPELUSI plans to soon initiate technical and policy dialogues with the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM), the Transportation Ministry, and state utility PLN to address key issues such as private Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) business models, tariff structures, and investor incentives.
