Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has indicated plans to dissolve the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) Task Force, arguing that the team has created unnecessary controversy while delivering limited results.

“For the BLBI Task Force, I’m still reviewing the situation. But in my view, it’s been running too long and the outcomes haven’t been very significant,” Purbaya said during a Ministry of Finance Media Gathering 2025 held at Novotel Bogor, West Java, on Friday, October 10, 2025.

“It’s only creating noise, and the income isn’t much. Rather than causing more disturbance, we might just end the task force altogether,” he added firmly.

However, Purbaya clarified that he will conduct a thorough assessment before making a final decision to terminate the task force’s mandate. The BLBI Task Force was originally established to recover state assets linked to the 1998 financial crisis bailout.

The finance minister also responded to the recent dispute involving the Ministry of Finance and Siti Hardiyanti Hastuti Rukmana, better known as Tutut Soeharto, the eldest daughter of Indonesia’s second president, Soeharto.

Tutut had filed a lawsuit against the finance minister at the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN) under case number 308/G/2025/PTUN.JKT, registered on September 12, 2025.

The case reportedly challenged Ministerial Decree No. 266/MK/KN/2025, which imposed travel restrictions preventing Tutut from leaving Indonesia in connection with the settlement of state receivables. The decree, dated July 17, 2025, was issued during the tenure of former finance minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

“Ms. Tutut has already withdrawn her lawsuit, and we respect that decision,” Purbaya said.

“We have met and discussed the matter. Essentially, she respects the measures taken by the government,” he added.
