National Police establishes reform task force
National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo has formally established the Police Reform Transformation Team, comprising 52 senior officers, as part of a sweeping institutional overhaul.
National Police spokesperson Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko said the move underscored the force’s commitment to accountability and collaboration with the government and other stakeholders.
“General Sigit has instructed his staff and ranks to carry out reform as part of responsibility and accountability,” Trunoyudo told reporters on Monday, September 22, 2025.
Under the new structure, General Sigit will serve as Patron of the team, while Deputy National Police Chief Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo has been appointed as Advisor.
“The order is a follow-up for the National Police to work systematically with the government and stakeholders to manage institutional transformation, in line with public expectations,” Trunoyudo said.
The transformation effort is aligned with the “National Police Grand Strategy 2025–2045,” aiming to reshape the institution across all units and regional commands.
“This is a fundamental and wide-ranging process, involving every unit and territorial office,” Trunoyudo added.
The reform drive comes as President Prabowo Subianto has also established a separate Police Reform Advisory Team, appointing General (ret) Ahmad Dofiri as Presidential Special Advisor on Public Security and Police Reform.
Openness to public input
General Sigit said at the State Palace on September 17, 2025 that the police institution has long been engaged in self-improvement and will continue to respond to societal concerns.
“We will see how the police follow up on what becomes policy. We have consistently carried out transformation for the better,” he said.
He emphasized that reforms are not limited to internal initiatives, but also incorporate external feedback.
“The National Police is open to evaluation and public input to continuously improve our institution, in our daily operations as well as in meeting the expectations of the people,” Sigit noted.
