Deputy House Speaker: Student delegates to meet government today
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has announced that student representatives who held an audience with parliament on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, will meet with the government today, September 4, 2025.
“Just now we communicated via WhatsApp with the government. Our friends here will be received by the government tomorrow to directly convey their views,” Dasco said during a dialogue with student representatives at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta on Wednesday.
He emphasized that direct talks with the government were necessary, as implementing many of the students’ proposals required collaboration between the DPR and the executive branch.
Among the issues he highlighted were the formation of an investigative team to probe allegations of treason, deliberations on the Asset Confiscation Law, and calls for tax reductions.
“I just contacted the Minister of State Secretary, though I don’t yet know who will receive them. The students will be contacted later,” he added.
On Wednesday, the House leadership welcomed representatives from 16 student organizations, including the University of Indonesia Student Executive Board (BEM UI), BEM SI Kerakyatan, BEM SI Rakyat Bangkit, BEM Nusantara, BEM PTNU se-Nusantara, DEMA PTKIN of Indonesia, BEM PTMA Zone III, BEM UPNVJ, Trisakti University Student President, the Central Executive Board of GMNI, GMKI, KAMMI, HMI-MPO, PP GMH, PP Himapolindo, and HMI-DIPO.
