The NasDem Party’s parliamentary faction has called on the House of Representatives (DPR) to suspend the salaries, allowances, and all attached facilities of Ahmad Sahroni and Nafa Urbach, after both were deactivated as party members in parliament.

“NasDem’s DPR faction requests the temporary suspension of salaries, allowances, and all facilities for those concerned as part of upholding party mechanisms and integrity,” NasDem DPR faction leader, Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat, said as quoted in a statement on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Viktor cited that the party’s internal council is currently handling the deactivation process, which will result in a formal ruling. He emphasized that the measure was aimed at ensuring transparency within the party and urged all parties to prioritize dialogue and deliberation to maintain public trust.

NasDem officially deactivated Sahroni and Urbach from the DPR effective Sept 1, 2025. The decision was announced by party chairman Surya Paloh following controversial remarks made by the two legislators.

“They have offended and hurt the feelings of the people, and this constitutes a deviation from NasDem’s struggle,” said the party’s press release signed by Paloh on August 31, 2025.

The two lawmakers had faced public backlash, which escalated into mob attacks on their residences. Sahroni was criticized for belittling calls to dissolve the DPR, while Urbach faced anger for backing a Rp50 million (US$3,000) monthly housing allowance for legislators.

Despite the deactivation, both lawmakers are still entitled to their salaries. House Budget Committee chairman Said Abdullah confirmed this, noting that under the Law on the MPR, DPR, DPD, and DPRD (MD3 Law), there is no legal provision for “non-active” status.

“From that legal aspect, yes, they will continue receiving their salaries,” Said told reporters at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday, September 1, 2025.
