The Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) has confirmed that it will revoke the membership card of former Deputy Manpower Minister Immanuel Ebenezer, also known as Noel, following his arrest by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Gerindra’s Secretary-General, Sugiono, clarified that Noel was never a party cadre, but only a registered member who received his Gerindra membership card to run as a legislative candidate in the 2024 elections.

“His membership will be revoked with the withdrawal of his party card,” Sugiono told reporters at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday, August 25, 2025.

He emphasized that Noel had never gone through Gerindra’s formal cadre training process.

“In Gerindra, there are members and there are cadres. Cadres must go through a certain training process. To my knowledge, pak Noel has never participated in that process,” he said.

President Prabowo Subianto had earlier dismissed Noel from his deputy ministerial post after he was named a suspect by the KPK.

On Friday, August 22, 2025 the KPK detained Noel on extortion charges related to occupational health and safety (K3) certification. KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto said Noel was arrested along with 10 others in a sting operation on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

“The KPK has named 11 people as suspects,” Setyo said in a press conference. He cited that the illicit scheme had likely been ongoing since 2019.
