The Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Setyo Budiyanto, emphasized the importance of improving the procurement system to reduce the potential for state losses, which has been a primary focus in the fight against corruption. In a recent parliamentary hearing,  Budiyanto explained that while the government has made several efforts, many challenges remain in enhancing the effectiveness of oversight.

“Procurement processes in various regions need to be improved, and we have made efforts to prevent and enforce laws to avoid greater losses to the state,” said Setyo Budiyanto on Wednesday, August 20,2025. He also mentioned that KPK is committed to playing its role not only in enforcement but also in prevention through education and outreach to government officials.

Budiyanto also responded to the statement made by President Prabowo Subianto during the 2025 Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), which highlighted the importance of tight supervision over companies that could potentially harm the state. According to Budiyanto, this serves as a guiding principle for KPK in carrying out its duties.

On the other hand, Budiyanto expressed concern over the limitations imposed on KPK's authority at the provincial level, as regulated by Law No. 19 of 2019. He hopes for reforms in the regulation to allow KPK to function more optimally at the regional level.

With the various challenges faced, Setyo Budiyanto stressed that KPK will continue to adapt to the current situation and conditions. “We are not only focusing on enforcement but also on increasing efforts in prevention and education at all levels of government,” he added.
