Industry leaders have noted the inseparable consequencies of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into business operations and its ethical and data security implications during the LeadX 2025 technology conference held in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

Agus Susanto, President director of PT Intikom Berlian Mustika, which organized the technology conference, said the rapid pace of technological advancement had made AI and data security two decisive factors in determining business success.

He called on companies to better understand how AI can be implemented within their organizations in order to stay competitive.

“Security is very important in safeguarding our data defenses. Through this forum, I hope participants gain updated insights into better data protection,” Agus spoke to Indonesia Business Post on the sidelines of the conference.

The conference attracted more than 500 participants from over 100 companies across multiple industries, including banking, insurance, manufacturing, telecommunications and distribution. Among the central issues raised were personal data security and the protection of corporate assets tied to intellectual property rights.

Agus cited the example of design blueprints for ships or aircraft, stressing that such sensitive data must be properly secured to prevent theft or duplication.

“Especially with AI, sometimes the system refers to sources that are actually protected by copyright. That’s why the government has regulations ensuring that others’ data cannot be used carelessly,” he said.

Intikom director Sudimin Mina emphasized three pillars for responsible AI adoption, namely data, security and ethics.

“AI without data is impossible. But once you have data, it must be secured and used ethically. For example, customer data may only be utilized with consent, in line with the Personal Data Protection Law,” Sudimin said.

He added that balancing innovation with strong security and ethical standards would be key to building a sustainable digital ecosystem in Indonesia.

“Ethics must be maintained at every stage from design to AI solutions to consumption,” he said.
