The Indonesian Military (TNI) deployed the Garuda Merah Putih II Task Force to deliver humanitarian assistance to Gaza, Palestine, in a mission that coincides with the country’s 80th Independence Day celebrations.

The mission, personally ordered by President Prabowo Subianto, will see 66 personnel transport 800 packages of aid including food, medicine, and blankets aboard two C-130J Super Hercules cargo aircraft for an airdrop operation from Jordan.

“This mission carries a strategic meaning as it takes place during the commemoration of our nation’s independence. It is a reminder that the spirit of independence is not only about safeguarding our sovereignty, but also about helping other nations striving for peace and freedom,” TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto said during the send-off ceremony at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

The aid operation is supported by multiple institutions, including the Defense Ministry, Foreign Ministry, National Alms Agency (Baznas), Jordanian diplomatic representatives, national media embedded with the task force, and various TNI units.

General Agus emphasized that the operation will be conducted in close coordination with the Royal Jordanian Air Force and other partners.

He instructed the troops to strictly follow international procedures and prioritize safety, both for personnel and military assets.

“Carry out the mission professionally, uphold military discipline and ethics, and safeguard the TNI’s reputation in the eyes of the world. Ensure every item we carry reaches its intended recipients and benefits the people of Gaza,” he said.
