An official with the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) clarifies that a recent event held in Bali is not a prelude to the upcoming 6th party congress, but a routine legislative training session (Bimtek) for party members serving in the House of Representatives (DPR) as well as lower legislative bodies (DPRD I and II).

“The Bimtek session on July 30, 2025 was focused on enhancing legislative functions of PDI-P legislators, with an emphasis on legislation, budgeting, and monitoring competencies,“ Ansy Lema, PDI-P spokesperson, spoke to Indonesia Business Post on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

He emphasized that the event's primary goal was to strengthen professionalism and performance of party members in carrying out their duties as public servants.

Asked about the upcoming party congress, Lema stressed that the exact date for the congress has yet to determined. Should the congress take place, he said, that the party would fully support Megawati Soekarnoputri as the party chair, with all levels of party branches (DPD and DPC) backing her leadership.

As reported by Kompas.com, PDI-P held the Bimtek session in Denpasar, Bali, on Wednesday, a mandatory event for all members of the legislative bodies, both at the national and regional levels.

"Yes, the DPP (party’s executive board) must attend, because all members of the DPRD are present," PDI-P deputy chairman Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, said in Jakarta the day before.

A WhatsApp status of party member Abidin Fikri, who is also Deputy Chairman of the House’s Commission VIII, showed him in a selfie in a ballroom with the background displaying "Technical Training for Members of DPR RI, DPRD I and DPRD II“. The status was uploaded on Tuesday night.
