The National Search and Rescue Agency of Indonesia (Basarnas) has confirmed that Juliana DSPM, a Brazilian national reported missing while hiking Mount Rinjani in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara was found dead at a depth of 600 meters on Tuesday evening, June 24, 2025 after intensive operations by a joint SAR team.

“At 6 pm yesterday, our rescuer, Khafid Hasyadi from Basarnas, found the victim at a depth of 600 meters. After examination, no signs of life were found,” Mohammad Syafii, Head of Basarnas, said in a statement released on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

Three additional rescuers − Syamsul Fadli from Lombok Timur Unit, along with Agam and Tiyo from the Rinjani Squad − descended shortly after to verify the condition of the victim and confirmed her death. The victim was immediately wrapped in a survivor bag in preparation for evacuation.

Due to poor weather conditions and limited visibility, the evacuation by lifting from the 600-meter point was postponed until Wednesday, June 25 at 6 am local time.

“A team of seven rescuers remained on-site overnight in a flying camp setup, with three stationed at the 400-meter anchor point and four alongside the victim at the datum point,” Syafii cited. “Evacuation will proceed early this morning if weather permits.”

Following the lift from the descent point, the victim’s body will be carried by stretcher along the trekking route to Sembalun Post, and subsequently airlifted by helicopter to Bhayangkara Police Hospital, West Nusa Tenggara.

“We pray for a safe and smooth evacuation operation as planned,” Syafii said.

The operation has been carried out by a coordinated SAR team involving Basarnas, local units, and community volunteers. Juliana was previously reported missing during a hike in Mount Rinjani National Park, prompting a complex and high-risk search and rescue effort in steep terrain.
