Pertamina NRE-LONGi launch solar panel manufacturing facility to boost energy transition
Indonesia’s energy transition takes a major leap forward as State energy company Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), in partnership with LONGi Green Technology Co., Ltd., launched a solar panel manufacturing project in Deltamas, West Java, on Monday, June 23, 2025.
The facility will produce high-efficiency photovoltaic (PV) modules with a target capacity of 1.4 GW annually using LONGi’s cutting-edge HPBC 2.0 N-type technology.
“This project will significantly support Indonesia’s energy transition roadmap, which targets a 34.3 percent renewable energy mix by 2034,” Eniya Listiani, Director General of New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), said while addressing at the launch event on Monday.
“We hope this project progresses smoothly to support the National Electricity Supply Plan (RUPTL), aiming for an additional 69.5 GW of capacity, of which 61 percent − or 42.6 GW − should come from renewable sources,” she added.
Located in the industrial zone of Deltamas, the facility aims to strengthen domestic PV supply chains, reduce production costs, and create skilled green jobs. The initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to boost local content (TKDN) and scale up Indonesia’s renewable energy manufacturing capacity.
Currently, Indonesia's domestic solar panel manufacturing capacity stands at 1.6 GWp per year. With this project, it will increase to over 3 GWp, forming a key foundation for Indonesia’s long-term target of adding 300–400 GWp of solar power by 2060, according to the Ministry of Industry.
Deputy for Investment Implementation Control at the Investment Ministry/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Edy Junaedi, praised the collaboration, suggesting that the project not only enhances Indonesia’s manufacturing capabilities, but also positions the country within the global renewable energy supply chain.
“This initiative will strengthen bilateral collaboration and accelerate our energy transition,” Edy said.
John Anis, CEO of Pertamina NRE, highlighted that the project represents a crucial milestone.
“By building local manufacturing capacity, we aim to secure domestic PV supply, reduce production costs, and generate green jobs,” he noted.
Dennis She, Vice President of LONGi Global, echoed the sentiment. “This partnership opens new opportunities for LONGi in Southeast Asia and supports Indonesia’s energy transition goals through technology sharing and innovation.”
The project is seen as a key driver in realizing the greenest RUPTL to date. It will support solar PV deployment, the growth of supporting industries such as solar cells, and future development of green hydrogen.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President for Corporate Communication at PT Pertamina, emphasized the project’s alignment with Pertamina’s commitment to energy sovereignty and the national net-zero emission (NZE) target.
“This solar PV manufacturing facility strengthens Indonesia’s energy transition ecosystem and supports Pertamina’s leadership in clean, sustainable energy,” he said.
