Taspen launches green energy pilot with Korean, local partner to support net zero goals
State-owned insurer PT Taspen has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Korea’s KevinLAB Inc. and local partner PT Catur Elang Perkasa to implement a green energy initiative.
Established in 1963, Taspen stands for Civil Servant Savings and Insurance, which is managed by the state-owned company PT Taspen with the function of organizing Social Insurance including pension fund insurance and old age savings for Civil Servants.
PT Catur Elang Perkasa (CEP) is an Indonesian national company established in 1994 in Surabaya. The company focuses on Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC), construction, and operation and maintenance (O&M) services, with a high commitment to quality, safety, and the environment.
KevinLAB Inc. is a South Korean technology company established in 2017, specializing in energy management solutions powered by the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and cloud computing. Headquartered in Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, the company develops and provides integrated energy management platforms that help residential, commercial, and industrial clients optimize their energy consumption and reduce costs.
The agreement was formalized at Taspen’s Jakarta I Branch Office in South Jakarta by Taspen Director of Planning and Actuarial Feb Sumandar, KevinLAB CEO Kim Young Jae, and PT Catur Elang Perkasa Director Agung Widiyanto.
Henra, Taspen’s Corporate Secretary, said this collaboration marks a milestone in promoting sustainability and energy efficiency within the company’s operations.
“Taspen has the potential to become a role model for green transformation in the BUMN sector, particularly among pension and social insurance institutions,” he said in a press statement released on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
As an initial step, the project has installed 38 solar panels with a total capacity of 20 kilowatt-peak (kWp) on the rooftop of the Taspen Jakarta I Branch Office. These panels are integrated with a cloud-based Energy Management System (EMS) that enables real-time monitoring and control. The system includes access to air conditioning controls, environmental sensors, and four solar power units, all managed through an app-based platform called MOSAIC.
Taspen was selected as the pilot location due to its strong environmental commitment and infrastructure readiness to integrate Internet of Things (IoT)-based energy systems. The company is seen as a SOE partner with systemic influence, capable of driving green economy initiatives across the public sector.
The collaboration is expected to deliver not only operational energy efficiency but also serve as a national demonstration model for other SOEs and government institutions. The goal is to inspire widespread adoption of energy monitoring technology and clean energy sources.
Through this pilot, Taspen will gain real-time energy usage data, enhancing decision-making accuracy and reducing operational costs. The project aligns with State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir’s directive encouraging SOEs to embrace green technologies as a source of long-term value for companies, beneficiaries, and society at large.
