The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) is set to examine 22 witnesses from Singapore-based companies as part of its investigation into alleged corruption involving the management of crude oil and refinery product imports by State energy company Pertamina and contractors (KKKS) from 2018 to 2023.

AGO spokesman, Harli Siregar, said the witness examination is scheduled to be held between June 2 and June 4, 2025. "There are about 22 parties, or more than 20 parties involved," Harli told reporters on Monday, June 2, 2025.

He revealed that the witnesses had previously been summoned but failed to appear. “What’s the urgency? A while ago, investigators summoned several companies based in Singapore, but they did not come, citing jurisdictional issues,” he said.

He added that the examination of these witnesses is essential for completing the case files of several suspects currently under detention. “Especially since, if I’m not mistaken, the detention period has less than a month remaining,” Harli said.

The corruption case, which allegedly involved collusion between public officials and brokers, centers on manipulations during the procurement of imported crude oil and refinery products. Investigators estimate that the state suffered losses of up to Rp193.7 trillion.

So far, the Attorney General’s Office has named nine individuals as suspects in the case. Among them are Riva Siahaan (RS), President Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga; Yoki Firnandi (YF), President Director of PT Pertamina International Shipping; and Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza, son of well-known businessman Riza Chalid, who was identified as the beneficial owner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa.

The ongoing probe marks one of the largest corruption investigations in the country’s energy sector, with international elements now under scrutiny as the investigation widens across borders.
