The administration of President Prabowo Subianto plans to accelerate the implementation of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) through various strategies in an effort to achieve its emission reduction target.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, said that the government will also revise the Comprehensive Investment and Policy Plan (CIPP) in an effort to align it with economic conditions, regulations and national infrastructure readiness.

"The target is to support the energy transition in Indonesia towards net zero emissions in 2060 or sooner," Airlangga said on Monday, March 24, 2025.

The government will also accelerate the disbursement and optimization of funding schemes and build a digital-based monitoring and evaluation system that can be accessed by stakeholders. The government will also improve coordination and periodic evaluation.

Airlangga said the government has also set up the Energy Transition and Green Economy Task Force (Satgas TEH) based on the Decree of Coordinating Minister for the Economy No. 141/2025.

“The task force has four working groups that focus on green energy, green industry, green partnerships and investments, and social, economic and human resource development,” he said.

Currently, the leadership of JETP has been handed over to Germany and Japan with members consisting of Denmark, the United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, Norway, France and the European Union (EU).

Previously, this leadership was led by the U.S., but the U.S. government under the leadership of Donald J. Trump withdrew from the JETP funding on March 5, 2025.

Meanwhile, these JETP member countries are also members of the International Partners Group (IPG)which have expressed support to Indonesia in achieving its emission reduction target of 31.89 percent independently and up to 43 percent with international support by 2030.
