Erick Thohir is a very well known figure in Indonesian business and politics. He is one of many members of the famous Thohir family who has various businesses in Indonesia. The Thohir family has many businesses, such as Mahaka Group owned by Erick and Adaro Energy by Garibaldi Thohir. Thohir now is the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises.
Erick Thohir is the son of the owner of Astra group, Teddy Thohir, who acquired Astra Group from William Soeryadjaya. Erick Thohir started his education in 1990 in Glendale College in California, US, with a Degree in Communication; in 1991, Erick took a BA in Advertising in American College, California, US; then he took an MBA in Marketing in National University in California, US in 1993. Then in 1992, Erick established the Mahaka Group — PT Mahaka Media Tbk.
