Chief investigator at the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) has announced the beginning of the anti-corruption agency’s investigation into alleged corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture.
The case being investigated is related to the procurement of goods and services in the ministry's rubber processing facility for the 2021-2023 budget year.
"We are handling a case related to the procurement of acid used to thicken rubber," Asep Guntur Rahayu, Director of Investigation at the KPK, said on Friday, November 29, 2024.
He cited that the Ministry of Agriculture was procuring goods to be distributed to rubber farmers at that time. However, there was a price inflation.
"So the price of acid that was previously sold for example at Rp10,000 per liter increased to Rp50,000 per liter," he said.
He said that the state losses due to the alleged corruption were still being calculated by the auditors.
Currently, investigators have summoned witnesses related to the case.
Antara reported the witnesses who were summoned for examination were Reny Maharani, Functional Officer for Procurement of Goods/Services, General and Procurement Bureau, Ministry of Agriculture 2019-2024 and Rosy Indra Saputra, Director of PT Sintas Kurama Perdana for the period May 2020-October 2024.
KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardika said that the anti-corruption commission has not announced who the parties have been named as suspects in the case.
