The company explored strategic cooperation opportunities at the business forum, wich was held to commemorate 75 years of bilateral relations between Indonesia and the U.S.

The event was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade of the United States Marisa Lago, and a number of US and Indonesian government representatives, as well as business people from both countries.

Pertamina Vice President for Corporate Communication, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, said Pertamina participated in the event organized by the Indonesian Embassy in the United States as it plays an important role in opening opportunities for and encouraging Pertamina to become a world-class company.

“Pertamina uses this important moment to convey the company's sustainability policy while opening up investment and cooperation opportunities with global partners, especially in the renewable energy development sector,” Fadjar said in a statement on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

Fadjar added that Pertamina's sustainability policy is very open for implementation with strong cooperation at national and global levels.

“Indonesia has the potential for clean energy resources that can attract international investors. Pertamina continues to convince the international community to support the energy transition program to accelerate the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target in 2060,” he said.

CEO of Pertamina Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (PNRE) John Anis, who was a panelist at the business forum, said the company has the mandate to support the Indonesian government to achieve emission reduction targets, as well as to prepare future business for Pertamina. PNRE also aspires to be a leader in building the NZE ecosystem in Indonesia.

“PNRE allocates a large CapEx (Capital Expenditures) for the development of new renewable energy. Until 2029, PNRE's CapEx will reach US$6.2 billion,” John Anis said.

He added that as much as 63 percent of CapEx is allocated for the development of solar, wind and geothermal power. Another 18 percent is for the development of low-carbon solutions including decarbonization, followed by biomass and bioethanol (11 percent) and future business development (6 percent).

“PNRE is committed to growing its business, therefore, we open opportunities to work with both domestic and international partners including the United States,” John Anis said.
