Johnny took elementary school (SD) to high school (SMA) educators. He then continued his studies at Atmajaya Catholic University in 1986. He was quite active in various organizations while he was studying, it was noted that he had attended Menwa and was a member of the advisory board of the Indonesian Catholic Student Association (PMKRI).
