Indonesia will hold the simultaneous general elections in 2024 and all eyes are on potential candidates for president and vice president posts. The General Elections Commission (KPU) has already released to the public on June 14, 2022, its scheduled stages for the elections.
The legislative and presidential elections will take place on February 14, 2024, while the regional elections will happen on November 27, 2024.
The election will be a massive political event and poses a serious challenge for the organizers. The KPU said in July 2022 that around 190 million eligible voters would cast their votes. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs estimated in early December 2022 that the number of eligible voters would be around 204.6 million.
The elections will vote for:
- 732 seats in the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), consisting of
- 580 seats in the House of Representatives (DPR)
- 152 seats in the Regional Representatives Council (DPD)
- President and Vice President
- Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD I)
- Regional Legislative Council (DPRD II in mayoralty or regental level)
- 4 governors
- 76 regents
- 18 mayors
