Foreign investors extend sell-off, pressuring BRI and Barito Group stocks
Foreign investors continued to retreat from the Indonesian equity market on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, booking approximately Rp308 billion (US$18.5 million) in net foreign sell, with the heaviest outflows targeting major blue-chip names.
According to Stockbit data, shares of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) saw the biggest foreign net sell, reaching around Rp1.2 trillion. The sell-down sent BBRI’s stock tumbling 3.77 percent to Rp3,830 by the market close. PT Barito Pacific (BRPT) followed, with foreign selling of about Rp209.58 billion, dragging the stock 2 percent lower to Rp3,430.
Despite the overall negative sentiment, certain counters still attracted foreign inflows. PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur (ICBP) recorded a net buy of Rp109.14 billion, lifting its price 2.69 percent to Rp8,575. Meanwhile, PT MD Entertainment (FILM) enjoyed foreign purchases worth Rp100.73 billion, pushing the stock 2.39 percent higher to Rp7,500.
The benchmark Jakarta Composite Index (JCI/IHSG) closed the trading day down 0.56 percent, losing 48.37 points to 8,521, as sell-offs hit several companies tied to conglomerate Prajogo Pangestu.
Among them, PT Barito Renewables Energy (BREN) suffered a 4.69 percent slump to Rp9,650, while PT Chandra Daya Investasi (CDIA) and PT Petrindo Jaya Kreasi (CUAN) slipped 1.62 percent and 1.26 percent, respectively.
Trading activity remained robust, with a total transaction volume of 57.29 billion shares across 2.55 million deals. The market’s capitalization stood at Rp16,609 trillion, and total transaction value reached Rp31.12 trillion. In total, 277 stocks advanced, 364 declined, and 170 remained unchanged.
Foreign investors were less active compared to domestic participants. Their total buy transactions amounted to Rp8.46 trillion, while total sales reached Rp8.77 trillion.
