The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has issued travel bans against several former officials of the Ministry of Finance’s Tax Directorate General (DJP) in connection with an ongoing tax corruption investigation.

“I haven’t received any notification from the Attorney General (ST Burhanuddin), but I think it’s best to let the legal process run its course,” Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said at the Finance Ministry building in Jakarta on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

The AGO is currently questioning several Finance Ministry employees as part of the investigation. Purbaya clarified that he himself has not been summoned.

“Some of our people have been called to provide statements and testimony about what happened at the time. I think it’s better to let the process proceed,” he said.

He emphasized that the case is not connected to the recent internal clean-up efforts within the DJP. Instead, the allegations involve three former Finance Ministry officials and dated back several years ago.

“That happened in the past, not now, and I don’t know how strong the case is. Let the prosecutors handle it,” Purbaya said.

The AGO previously confirmed that it had requested travel bans for five individuals − three former tax officials and two former executives from PT Djarum and a tax consultant. The move is linked to suspected corruption aimed at reducing corporate tax obligations between 2016 and 2020 involving rogue DJP personnel.

“Correct, the Attorney General’s Office has requested travel restrictions for several parties,” AGO spokesman, Anang Supriatna, said as quoted by Antara. The three former tax officials are identified by their initials as KD, KL, and BNDP, while the PT Djarum executive is VRH and the tax consultant HBP.

Anang noted that all five remain classified as witnesses at this stage. According to documents from the Directorate General of Immigration, the travel bans were issued at the AGO’s request and are effective from November 14, 2025 to 14 May 14, 2026.
