Eight named suspects in fake diploma allegations against Ex-President Jokowi
The Jakarta Police have named eight individuals as suspects in connection with the false diploma allegations against Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
“The Jakarta Metropoltan Police has named eight suspects in the case of defamation, slander, and data manipulation reported by Mr. Joko Widodo,” Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri told a press conference at the Jakarta Police Headquarters on Friday, November 7, 2025.
The suspects are divided into two clusters. The first cluster includes Eggi Sudjana (ES), Kurnia Tri Rohyani (KTR), Damai Hari Lubis (DHL), Rustam Effendi (RE), and Muhammad Rizal Fadillah (MRF). The second cluster consists of Roy Suryo (RS), Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar (RHS), and Tifauziah Tyassuma (TT), also known as dr. Tifa.
The first cluster is charged under Articles 310, 311, and 160 of the Criminal Code (KUHP), along with Article 27A in conjunction with Article 45(4) and Article 28 of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE). The second cluster faces charges under Articles 310 and 311 of the KUHP, as well as Article 32(1) in conjunction with Article 48(1) and Article 35 of the UU ITE.
President Joko Widodo had previously filed a report naming 12 individuals − Eggi Sudjana, Rizal Fadillah, Kurnia Tri Rohyani, Rustam Effendi, Damai Hari Lubis, Roy Suryo, Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar, Tifauziah Tyassuma, Abraham Samad, Mikhael Sinaga, Nurdian Susilo, and Aldo Husein.
According to Asep, investigators have questioned 130 witnesses and 22 expert witnesses from various fields, including the Press Council, the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI), the Directorate General of Legislation, as well as experts in digital forensics, Indonesian linguistics, and legal sociology.
The Jakarta Police are handling six separate police reports related to the fake diploma allegations, one of which was filed directly by Jokowi himself. His report accuses several individuals of defamation and slander, citing Articles 310 and 311 of the Criminal Code and Article 305 in conjunction with Article 51(1) of the UU ITE.
Following a case review, police determined there was sufficient evidence of a criminal offense, upgrading Jokowi’s report to full investigation status. Of the other five reports, three have also advanced to the investigation stage, while two were withdrawn by the complainants.
