State-owned tin miner PT Timah (TINS) appointed retired Major General Handy Geniardi as the company’s new Director of Operation and Commercial Affairs, replacing Nur Adi Kuncoro, in an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

The meeting also approved the establishment of two new executive positions − Deputy President Director and Director of Production and Commercial Affairs. Harry Budi Sidharta was named Deputy President Director, while Ilhamsyah Mahendra will serve as Director of Production and Commercial Affairs.

PT Timah Corporate Secretary, Rendi Kurniawan, said the leadership restructuring is part of the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its business amid the increasingly dynamic global tin industry and to enhance sustainable performance.

“The management changes mark a momentum for renewal and aim to further strengthen internal synergy within the company,” Rendi said as quoted in a statement on Wednesday.

Handy Geniardi is a 1987 graduate of the Indonesian Military Academy and has an extensive military background, particularly within the elite Army’s Special Forces Command (Kopassus). Over more than three decades of service in the Indonesian Army, he was known for his expertise in operations, intelligence, and strategic leadership.

His military career included several key positions, such as Commander of Intelligence Group 3/Sandhi Yudha Kopassus (2010–2011), Inspector of Kopassus (2011–2012), and Head of the Military Training Regiment at the Sriwijaya Regional Military Command (2012–2014). Handy later served as Head of the State Intelligence Agency’s Papua Regional Office (Kabinda Papua) from 2015 to 2018.

He subsequently held senior intelligence and leadership roles, including Deputy Chief of the Indonesian Military’s Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) from 2018 to 2020 and Deputy Commander of the TNI’s Staff and Command School (Sesko TNI) from 2021 to 2022.
