President Prabowo Subianto has identified a list of nine individuals to be appointed as members of the National Police Reform Committee, said Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.

“We’re just waiting for the announcement. There will be around nine members,” Prasetyo told reporters at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, while adding that the remaining step is the official inauguration of the committee members, which will be conducted directly by the president.

The Gerindra Party politician cited that the prospective committee members were selected from among experts in law and prominent figures with practical experience in policing.

“They are figures who possess legal expertise as well as those who have professional competence and experience in the police sector,” he said.

Prasetyo had earlier said that the inauguration ceremony for the committee members is expected to take place next week. The update was delivered following the 80th anniversary celebration of the Indonesian Miltary (TNI) held at the National Monument (Monas) compound in Jakarta on Sunday, October 5, 2025.

“Next week, the president will announce and inaugurate them,” Prasetyo confirmed. When asked by reporters about the exact number and identities of the selected members, he responded with a light joke: “Oh, you already know? Did someone leak it to you?”

Previously, Prasetyo revealed that former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (2019–2024) Mahfud MD had been invited to join the National Police Reform Committee.

“We are currently in the process of reaching out to several prominent figures to seek their consent to join the committee, including pak Mahfud MD,” Prasetyo said at the Merdeka Palace on Friday, September 19, 2025.
