Xurya expands into off-grid solar, IPP projects to support Indonesia’s energy transition
Solar power leasing company Xurya has announced a major business expansion into off-grid solar systems for the commercial & industrial segment as well as Independent Power Producer (IPP) projects.
Xurya’s Managing Director Eka Himawan said the new strategy aligns with Indonesia’s Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) 2025–2035, which targets 38 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2035, with solar power plant as the largest contributor.
“This decision is not just a business move, but a big leap in our mission to deliver affordable clean energy for all,” Eka said as quoted in a statement on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
He emphasized that IPP projects will play a key role for both State electricity company PLN and industrial estates in advancing the country’s energy transition, while also addressing energy access in remote, outermost, and disadvantaged regions (3T areas).
Xurya’s Director of Technology, Edwin Widjonarko, added that the expansion had been carefully prepared over several years.
“We have built technical and operational expertise in energy storage technology (batteries), expanded partnerships with local technology players, and explored efficient operational models for remote regions,” he said.
Xurya’s prior market studies revealed that the success of off-grid and IPP projects depends not only on financing or technology, but also on institutional readiness. Increasingly, clients highlight Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors, including Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), as essential in securing sustainable long-term funding.
“Many challenges in the off-grid sector are not technical but institutional. That is why Xurya has continuously strengthened not only our technical capabilities but also our governance and ESG focus,” Edwin said.
Looking ahead, Eka reaffirmed Xurya’s commitment to enhancing ESG strategies, including advancing gender equality initiatives, strengthening environmental responsibility, and ensuring inclusive impact for all stakeholders.
