House commission approves Rp 21.67 trillion budget for energy ministry in 2026
The House of Representatives’ energy and investment Commission XII has approved the 2026 budget allocation for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) at Rp21.67 trillion (US$1.3 billion), a sharp increase of 166.87 percent from the initial ceiling of Rp8.12 trillion.
“I would like to ask for the approval of all members of Commission XII for the definitive budget of the Ministry of ESDM for fiscal year 2026. Can this be approved?” Commission XII Chair Bambang Patijaya said during a hearing on Wednesday, September 3, 2025
Deputy ESDM Minister Yuliot Tanjung cited that the budget comes from several sources: Rp18.36 trillion from the state budget, Rp2.69 trillion from non-tax state revenue (PNBP), and Rp610 billion from public service agencies (BLU).
The allocation breakdown is as follows:
1. Secretariat General: Rp565.2 billion;
2. Inspectorate General: Rp138.72 billion.
3. Directorate General of Oil and Gas: Rp10.13 trillion, covering:
- Farmers’ converter kits: Rp140 billion;
- Expansion of 1 million household gas networks: Rp4.8 trillion;
- Oil and gas infrastructure supervision: Rp21.29 billion;
- 132 km Cirebon–Bandung gas transmission pipeline: Rp854.13 billion;
- Non-APBN gas network facilitation: Rp2.9 billion;
- Semarang–Solo–Yogyakarta gas transmission pipeline: Rp882.5 billion;
- 115,000 household gas connections: Rp477 billion.
4. Directorate General of Electricity: Rp6.07 trillion, including:
- New electricity connections (BPBL) for 417,000 households: Rp835 billion;
- BPBL supervision: Rp29.58 billion;
- Rural electrification in 1,135 locations: Rp5 trillion.
5. Directorate General of Mineral and Coal: Rp679.76 billion;
6. National Energy Council: Rp77.6 billion;
7. Energy Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM ESDM): Rp729.43 billion.
8. Geological Agency: Rp1.82 trillion, including:
- Oil and gas studies in 10 open areas: Rp85 billion;
- Oil and gas exploration in 5 locations: Rp502.22 billion;
- 9 mineral exploration recommendations: Rp202.30 billion;
- 10 coal exploration recommendations: Rp156.16 billion;
- Renovation of exploration data storage facilities: Rp15 billion.
- Renovation of laboratory and data storage: Rp29.9 billion;
- 1 mineral drilling vessel: Rp40.99 billion;
- 1 geomarine vessel: Rp100.59 billion.
9. BPH Migas: Rp323.4 billion;
10. BPMA: Rp102.39 billion.
11. Directorate of Law Enforcement: Rp70 billion;
12. Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE): Rp937.63 billion, including:
- 60 solar power plants (PLTS): Rp460 billion;
- 100 solar-powered street lights (PA-TS): Rp40 billion;
- 3 micro-hydro power plants (PLTMH): Rp53.93 billion;
- Renewable energy potential mapping and monitoring: Rp57.16 billion;
- Infrastructure monitoring and evaluation: Rp26.18 billion.
