President Prabowo Subianto departed for Beijing on Tuesday evening, September 2, 2025, for a courtesy visit on official invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The presidential aircraft carrying Prabowo and a limited delegation took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta at around 8 p.m.

State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said Xi’s invitation had originally been scheduled for August 31, 2025, but Prabowo delayed his departure in consideration of domestic developments.

Prasetyo added that Beijing had made a special request for Prabowo to attend the 80th anniversary commemoration and military parade in the Chinese capital.

“In recent days, there was a request from the Chinese government for President Prabowo Subianto to attend at least one day of the 80th anniversary events and the military parade,” he told reporters on Wednesday, September 3,2025.

He stressed that Prabowo carefully weighed the situation at home before deciding to leave. “Nonetheless, the President also views it as important to maintain good relations with China. Therefore, to preserve the relationship with the Chinese government, he decided to depart tonight and will return to Indonesia tomorrow night,” Prasetyo said.

During his visit, Prabowo is also expected to meet and engage with several world leaders in attendance. “Of course, he will meet with President Xi and other global figures. We all hope that in between the events, there will be discussions that can strengthen Indonesia’s ties with China,” Prasetyo added.

National unity

President Prabowo has expressed appreciation to the Indonesian people, security forces, and government officials at both national and regional levels for their swift cooperation in restoring peace and unity following recent national turbulence.

The statement was conveyed by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

“President Prabowo Subianto extends his gratitude to all Indonesians, to the police and military, and to government officials at the central and regional levels — governors, regents, and mayors — who quickly worked hand in hand,” Prasetyo told reporters.

According to him, the President believes that such solidarity has helped foster unity, harmony, and peace among communities, enabling the nation to regain stability in a short period.

He added that President Prabowo has been personally monitoring developments through reports from various agencies. “Throughout the day, the President has received updates from all relevant institutions, confirming that public life has steadily returned to normal,” Prasetyo noted.
