Indonesia allocates Rp6.26 trillion for IKN in 2026, down from previous years
The government has allocated Rp6.26 trillion (US$387 million) for two development programs of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority for 2026, down by more than half from the Rp13 trillion allocated in 2025.
Some Rp5.71 trillion of the budget for the new capital city development, stipulated in Book II of the Financial Note and the Draft State Budget (RAPBN) for the 2026 Fiscal Year, is allocated for the Strategic Area Development Program, and the other Rp553 billion for the Management Support Program.
"If I’m not mistaken, the budget for IKN (in 2026) is Rp6.3 trillion. Otherwise, I'll correct it later," Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati told the 2026 Draft State Budget and Financial Note Press Conference in Jakarta on Friday, August 15, 2025.
This budget allocation is higher than the Rp4.7 trillion projected in the 2025 State Budget. However, the IKN budget in the 2026 Draft State Budget is a significant decrease from allocations in previous years.
Previously, the total budget allocation for the New Capital City (IKN) for 2022-2024 reached Rp75.8 trillion. In 2022, the realized budget reached Rp5.5 trillion, then increased to Rp27 trillion in 2023 and Rp43.3 trillion in 2024.
President Prabowo Subianto, however, did not mention the budget allocation for IKN development in his speech on the 2026 State Budget Bill (RUU APBN) and its Financial Note.
Meanwhile, the 2026 Draft State Budget (RAPBN) focuses on eight national priority programs: food security, energy security, the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, improvement of the quality of education, health, the people's economy, total people's defense, and accelerated investment.
The budget breakdown for Prabowo's priority programs is as follows:
● Food security Rp164.4 trillion;
● Energy security Rp402.4 trillion;
● Free Nutritious Meals Rp335 trillion;
● Education Rp757.8 trillion;
● Health Rp244 trillion;
● Village development, cooperatives, and MSMEs Rp181.8 trillion;
● Defense Rp185 trillion;
● Investment acceleration Rp530 trillion.
