Indonesia’s Garuda Merah Putih-II Task Force delivers humanitarian aid for Gaza
The Garuda Merah Putih-II Task Force (GMP-II) launched its first airdrop over Gaza on Sunday, August 17, 2025, which coincided with Indonesia’s Independence Day celebration, delivering 17.8 tons of essential humanitarian aid for Palestinians, who are facing crisis-level or worse food insecurity.
“We celebrate (Indonesia’s) Independence Day not only with ceremonies, but also with real humanitarian action. May this assistance ease the burden of our brothers and sisters in Gaza," Colonel Puguh Julianto, commander of the mission, said in a statement on Sunday.
The airdrop mission marked a historic and emotional moment, as the skies over Gaza were filled with parachutes carrying supplies of ready-to-eat meals, medicines, and emergency items.
These aid packages were prepared by the National Alms Agency (BAZNAS) in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Defense. A total of 800 tons of aid were sent to Gaza, with 45 tons delivered through the airdrop mission.
This operation is part of the broader Solidarity Path Operation-2 (SPO-2), which is led by the Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF). The airdrop ensured that supplies reached areas of Gaza that are otherwise inaccessible by land, underscoring Indonesia’s active participation and continuous support for Palestine.
The Garuda Merah Putih-II Task Force arrived in Jordan on August 15, 2025. The operation involves two Indonesian Air Force C-130J-30 Hercules aircraft, which traveled from Indonesia to Jordan before making the final leg of their journey to Gaza. The Garuda Merah Putih-II Task Force is a continuation of Indonesia’s commitment to peace and assistance to Palestine, underscoring the nation’s dedication to supporting global humanitarian efforts.
