PT Cikarang Listrindo has reported disruption in its natural gas supply following an unplanned shutdown at Pertamina EP’s (PEP) Field Subang Gathering Station on August 5, 2025.

Cikarang Listrindo’s Corporate Secretary, Rani Maheswari Miraza, said the incident, which involved an unplanned outage, affected gas deliveries to all of PEP’s West Java customers, including Cikarang Listrindo.

Cikarang Listrindo currently sources gas from both PEP and PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) under existing supply contracts running until December 2029 and March 2035, respectively.

On August 10, 2025, the company received initial notification from PGN regarding reduced gas pressure. By August 13, PGN issued a follow-up notice highlighting critical pressure issues in the South Sumatra–West Java gas pipeline network, signaling the potential for further reductions in supply to Cikarang Listrindo’s power plants.

“In response, we immediately took mitigation steps by using alternative fuels to ensure uninterrupted energy supply for our industrial customers until gas deliveries from PEP and PGN return to normal,” Rani said on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

She added that operations have not been materially affected so far, but the company is still assessing any possible financial impact.

She stressed that Cikarang Listrindo remains committed to closely monitoring the situation and is coordinating with gas suppliers, regulators, and other stakeholders to safeguard electricity supply reliability.

The disruption follows an earlier incident on August 5, 2025, when an explosion occurred at the CO₂ Removal Gas Line at PEP’s Subang Gathering Station in Cidahu Village, West Java, at around 4:30 a.m. Two workers suffered burn injuries but remained conscious and were given initial treatment at Hamori Hospital in Subang before being transferred to a Jakarta hospital for further care.

Despite the incident, PEP announced that gas deliveries to household consumers via the gas network had resumed by the afternoon of August 5.

PGN Corporate Secretary, Fajriyah Usman, confirmed that gas delivery volumes in August 2025 had declined due to unplanned maintenance at several upstream suppliers, along with pending additional supply arrangements still in progress.

“This condition has caused temporary constraints in gas distribution to some of PGN’s customers in West Java,” Fajriyah said.

She noted that PGN has yet to secure additional domestic liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes for August 2025 as an alternative supply source. Customers have been advised to manage consumption, while dual-fuel users are preparing alternative fuels.

PGN, she added, is expediting efforts with relevant stakeholders to obtain additional gas allocations, including LNG, and restore deliveries to customers as soon as possible.

“We apologize for the current situation and understand it may affect our customers’ operations. PGN will continue to provide regular updates through official channels and maintain close coordination to ensure supply and service recovery,” Fajriyah said.
