PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN) is set to launch the Nusantara Lima (SNL) satellite next month from Florida’s Space Coast, USA.

An August 10, 2025 report by Satnews said that the Nusantara Lima was built by Boeing using the 702MP platform and offers over 160 Gbps capacity to support broadband internet access and essential communications services in Indonesia and the Southeast Asian market. The satellite is expected to deliver high-capacity connectivity to users across more than 17,000 islands in Indonesia and neighboring countries.

Equipped with advanced payload processing technology, the satellite can direct internet and communication capacity to areas with the highest demand − from major cities to remote villages, or even disaster-hit regions.

“Indonesia was one of the first countries to adopt satellite communications to connect its people, and Nusantara Lima continues that legacy,” PSN Group CEO, Adi Rahman Adiwoso, said as quoted by Satnews.

“This satellite will empower communities, schools, and businesses that have never had reliable access before, while also enhancing national capacity for the country’s needs,” he added.

Nusantara Lima also features solar arrays made by Boeing subsidiary Spectrolab, capable of generating up to 15 kW of power to sustain full operations during its 15-year mission. After launch and in-orbit testing, SNL is expected to begin commercial operations from geostationary orbit − roughly 35,000 kilometers above Earth − in 2026.

Ryan Reid, President of Boeing Satellite Systems International, expressed pride in continuing the company’s long-standing partnership with Indonesia, which began with the Palapa A1 satellite in 1976.

“With Nusantara Lima, we are delivering a reliable, high-capacity solution tailored to Indonesia’s unique geography and connectivity needs,” Reid said.
