The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has strongly criticized the appointment of Adrian Gunadi, former CEO of Investree Indonesia, as the new CEO of JTA Investree Doha Consultancy, citing his status as a criminal suspect and a fugitive.

Gunadi has been named a suspect in an alleged financial crime and is reportedly on the Interpol red notice list, which serves as a global alert for individuals sought by law enforcement. Although a red notice is not an arrest warrant, it notifies authorities worldwide of a wanted individual. However, checks by Katadata.co.id on Interpol’s official website and Indonesia’s National Police most-wanted list did not find Gunadi’s name.

In a statement on Friday, July 25, 2025 OJK expressed regret over the appointment, and emphasized its commitment to bringing Gunadi back to Indonesia.

“OJK will strengthen coordination with law enforcement and international authorities to ensure Adrian Gunadi is returned to Indonesia to face criminal and civil accountability,” the statement said.

OJK revoked Investree’s business license on October 21, 2024, due to failure to meet minimum capital requirements and other serious violations. Gunadi is now under investigation by OJK’s Financial Services Sector Investigation Department (DPJK) for alleged illegal fundraising, in violation of Article 46 of the Banking Law.

In response, OJK has frozen Gunadi’s accounts, launched an asset tracing effort, and is supporting ongoing legal proceedings.

“Every violation of financial regulations will be dealt with firmly to uphold the rule of law and maintain public trust,” OJK said.

Despite OJK’s claims, the lack of Gunadi’s name in official red notice and DPO databases raises questions about the transparency of the case. Attempts by Katadata to seek clarification from OJK Executive Supervisor Agusman have gone unanswered.
