Global network of Indonesian diplomats mobilized to support Danantara’s success
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the country’s sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, have joined forces in an attempt to elevate Indonesia’s global investment footprint.
Through this strategic collaboration, the global network of Indonesian ambassadors and diplomats will be mobilized to support Danantara’s mission of becoming a world-class sovereign wealth fund.
“Danantara’s existence is highly aligned with Kemlu’s core mandate as the spearhead of Indonesia’s economic diplomacy. Therefore, synergy and strong diplomatic backing for Danantara are not just important − they are inevitable,” Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arrmanatha C. Nasir, told a high-level briefing on “The Strategic Role of Indonesian Diplomacy in Supporting BPI Danantara,” held in Jakarta on Monday, July 21, 2025.
Speaking on behalf of Foreign Minister Sugiono, Arrmanatha or Tata called on all Indonesian embassies and diplomats to actively support Danantara’s efforts by identifying opportunities, securing strategic partership and pursuing potential investments in partner countries.
He outlined measures to strengthen collaboration, including the formation of a regular coordination mechanism to ensure alignment between Indonesia’s diplomatic strategies and Danantara’s investment priorities. Tata also highlighted Danantara’s role in supporting Indonesia’s development cooperation agenda through strategic investments in developing countries, while strictly adhering to international law and governance standards.
“I urge everyone at the Foreign Ministry, Danantara, and all our representatives abroad to collaborate closely to realize the President’s vision through Danantara,” Tata said.
He also emphasized the importance of engaging the Directorate General of Economic Relations and Development Cooperation to drive this new wave of economic diplomacy.
Danantara’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Pandu Patria Sjahrir, presented the fund’s institutional profile and its investment priorities both domestically and internationally. He emphasized the critical importance of international partnerships, particularly in gaining access to co-investors, capital, technology, and expertise.
“Our ambassadors are the eyes and ears of Danantara across the globe,” Pandu noted. “They play a vital role in expanding our partnerships and enhancing access to knowledge, innovation, and global networks.”
During the discussion, participants explored potential international collaborations and mechanisms to strengthen support from Indonesian missions worldwide for Danantara’s global expansion.
This event marked the first official joint initiative between the foreign ministry and Danantara. It brought together Vice Ministers Arrmanatha Nasir and Arif Havas Oegroseno, Danantara’s CIO Pandu Sjahrir, senior officials from the Ministry, ambassador-designates, and was attended virtually by representatives of Indonesian embassies and consulates across the globe.
