Indonesia to host Asia’s first quantum AI data center with US$400 M investment
Indonesia is poised to become the first country in Asia to house a Quantum AI Data Center, following a landmark partnership between Silicon Valley–based Worldvuer iByond Limited and Tunas Prima Industrial Estate.
The collaboration was officially signed in Jakarta on July 9, 2025, backed by Indonesia’s Ministry of Investment and the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), and is expected to bring in US$400 million (Rp6 trillion) in investment.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Todotua Pasaribu, and attended by Her Highness Princess Anne Shek, Chair of the Advisory Board for Asia of Worldvuer iByond.
“This is in line with President Prabowo’s directive to achieve 8 percent economic growth toward Golden Indonesia 2045,” Todotua said as quoted by Katadata, on Monday, July 14, 2025. “The digital economy − particularly data centers − is a main pillar to achieve this. Indonesia has tremendous potential in this sector, and we are ready to be the key partner in building Asia’s digital future.”
The Quantum AI Data Center will be built in Tunas Prima, a green industrial estate located in Batam, Riau Islands. The estate already features renewable energy infrastructure such as solar panels and an independent water treatment system. Notably, an Apple component factory for AirTags is also set to be developed in the same area.
Worldvuer iByond Limited is the developer of the Vovea iByond Operating System, which integrates cutting-edge technologies like quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics to offer processing capabilities beyond those of traditional data centers.
Beyond data centers, the company is exploring partnerships in the energy sector similar to its collaboration with Aramco in Saudi Arabia, and has signaled interest in working with Telkom Group and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Application in telecommunications technology.
“Through the Omnibus Law and the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, we have simplified regulations,” Todotua noted. “We also offer fiscal incentives such as tax holidays, super tax deductions for R&D and workforce development, and duty exemptions for machinery and production equipment. This is our commitment to supporting high-quality investments like this.”
Worldvuer iByond plans to submit an official incentive proposal and supporting documents to the Ministry of Investment. The company is also seeking collaborations in education and mining, particularly to develop a gold-based microchip supply chain.
According to BKPM’s statement, Indonesia is set to become the first Asian base for quantum AI technology, following its initial development in Silicon Valley and the Middle East.
About Quantum AI
Quantum AI (Artificial Intelligence) is a field of computer science that leverages the transformative power of quantum computing to enhance AI applications such as machine learning algorithms, neural networks, and large language models (LLMs). The integration of quantum computing into future AI systems is expected to drastically improve computational power, algorithmic efficiency, and problem-solving capabilities. Despite its complexity, Quantum AI could play a crucial role in addressing humanity’s most challenging problems.
Race for quantum AI leadership
The announcement comes shortly after BDx Data Centres launched Southeast Asia’s first hybrid quantum AI testing site at its SIN1 facility in Paya Lebar, Singapore, in collaboration with Anyon Technologies. The project integrates quantum computing with NVIDIA’s GPU technology to support next-gen AI workloads.
“Being ahead of the curve is part of our DNA at BDx,” CEO Mayank Srivastava said, highlighting the company’s commitment to shaping the future of innovation.
Dr. Jie (Roger) Luo, President and CEO of Anyon Technologies, described the deployment of a hybrid quantum computing system as transformative for modern computing infrastructure, enabling breakthroughs in algorithms and quantum applications.
The SIN1 facility − designed as a cross-regional AI Innovation and Hub − has received Singapore’s Green Data Centre Standard certification and operates under the Green Mark Platinum scheme. It features 20 percent greater energy efficiency compared to traditional facilities, thanks to advanced cooling, AI-powered automation, and a real-time digital twin for energy optimization.
BDx and Anyon Technologies plan to expand their hybrid quantum computing model to additional Asian markets, including Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
