Foreign Affairs and Defense Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) held a second round of fit-and-proper test on Sunday, July 6, 2025, for 24 Indonesian ambassadorial candidates, with all evaluations conducted behind closed doors in accordance with House internal regulations.

Deputy chairman of Commission I, Budisatrio Djiwandono, emphasized that the closed-door nature of the session means the results will remain confidential until they are submitted to House Speaker Puan Maharani for further action.

“Personally, I am satisfied. From the beginning, I believed that the candidates nominated by the President have been carefully selected and evaluated,” Budisatrio told reporters at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday.

He added that most of the candidates demonstrated strong qualifications, citing extensive diplomatic experience or previous ambassadorial assignments that provide them with valuable global networks.

Fellow Deputy Chairman of Commission I, Dave Laksono, concurred. He stressed that the candidates had already undergone screening by the executive branch prior to appearing before the House.

“These are individuals who have passed the government’s selection process, and in our view, they are among the most qualified to represent Indonesia abroad,” Dave said.

He noted that while many candidates come from a career-diplomacy background, others have diverse professional experiences, including in business, politics, and the military. “From both my personal and party’s perspective, these nominees are suitable and should proceed to the next stage,” he added.
