Danantara to provide Rp130 T for national housing project
State investment management agency (BPI Danantara) has pledged an investment of Rp130 trillion (US$8 billion) to support the national housing initiative led by the Ministry of Housing and Settlements.
“We’ve coordinated with several state-owned banks including members of Himbara, Bank Syariah Indonesia, and BTN to fund this housing project. By the end of the year, we estimate our contribution could reach up to Rp130 trillion. The financing scheme is well-structured and ready for immediate execution,” Danantara CEO, Rosan P. Roeslani, said as quoted in a statement on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
The housing program aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to prioritize accessible housing for all Indonesians. Rosan emphasized that this initiative is a critical national project that requires broad collaboration and full support.
“For the banks, this is also a great opportunity as the financed homes provide collateral, and we will offer competitive interest subsidies. We're streamlining the process so implementation can begin promptly,” he said.
Danantara has been in close coordination with the Ministry of Housing and Settlements to align on financing mechanisms and project execution. While fully supporting the ministry's programs, Rosan acknowledged that banks will maintain certain eligibility criteria for funding.
“We want everything to proceed in compliance with regulations,” Rosan said, expressing confidence that the initiative will not only boost Indonesia’s economy but also improve the quality of life for its citizens. He noted that affordable housing under this program would bring joy and relief to many families.
Housing Minister Maruarar Sirait welcomed Danantara’s strong support for the national housing program. In response, he has assigned Secretary General Didyk Choiroel and Commissioner of the Management Body of the Public Housing Savings Program (BP Tapera) Heru Pudyo Nugroho to work closely with Danantara and ensure smooth collaboration.
“I’ve already instructed the Secretary General and BP Tapera commissioner to follow up on Danantara’s support,” Maruarar said.
This financial backing is expected to accelerate the rollout of affordable housing projects across the country, reflecting a major milestone in Indonesia's push for inclusive development and improved living standards.
