Prabowo: Indonesia ready to support Palestine through peacekeeping, medical aid
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed Indonesia's unwavering support for the Palestinian people and expressed readiness to play an active humanitarian role in the region, including the deployment of peacekeeping forces and the provision of medical assistance.
Speaking at the 2nd ASEAN–Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, President Prabowo underscored Indonesia’s commitment to solidarity with Palestine and called for a united response from ASEAN and GCC nations.
“On many occasions, I have expressed that we are willing to send a significant number of peacekeeping troops, if conditions permit and with the agreement of GCC member states,” Prabowo said during the summit, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025
The worsening humanitarian crisis in Palestine was a key topic of discussion at the high-level meeting. In his address, Prabowo delivered a strong appeal for collective action, urging both regional blocs to take a more effective and united stance in response to the ongoing tragedy.
“The humanitarian tragedy experienced by the Palestinian people is a tragedy, a sorrow, and a crime against humanity. It must unite us to take a more effective collective stance,” Prabowo emphasized.
He further declared Indonesia’s readiness to provide medical support, including treating Palestinian patients in Indonesian hospitals.
“We are ready to provide medical assistance and to receive patients from Palestine who are in need of treatment,” he said.
Prabowo also revealed that he has visited several GCC countries to align collective efforts and diplomatic strategies aimed at addressing the crisis. He emphasized the moral responsibility shared by ASEAN and GCC nations to contribute to a peaceful resolution.
“Indonesia calls for stronger support from ASEAN and the GCC for peace efforts and the reconstruction of Palestine, based on the two-state solution, with Al-Quds as the capital of an independent Palestinian state,” he concluded.
