Global investors committed Rp12.3 T to IKN public housing projects
The Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority reveals that foreign investment in the construction of residential towers in the country’s new capital city has reached approximately Rp12.3 trillion (US$760 million).
The pledged investment had come through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme and involved international consortiums from South Korea, the United States, and other countries.
The funding will support the development of 41 apartment towers in the Sepaku subdistrict of Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan − part of the core residential infrastructure for the new capital.
“The active participation of international investors signals global confidence in the IKN project,” Agung Wicaksono, Deputy for Funding and Investment at the IKN Authority, said on Sunday, May 25, 2025.
Agung emphasized that Indonesia’s infrastructure potential, combined with the effectiveness of the PPP financing model, is gaining strong global traction as a transparent, accountable, and sustainable funding method.
The latest projects include two major international consortiums:
● South Korean Consortium: Led by Samsung C&T in partnership with Indonesia’s PT Brantas Abipraya, this group will develop 21 residential towers with a projected investment of Rp6.3 trillion;
● U.S.-Led Consortium: This group consists of PJ-IC International, Bee-Invest, Ozturk Holdings, and Promec Joint Venture, collaborating with partners from Brunei, Türkiye, and Spain, to build 20 towers with an estimated investment of Rp6 trillion.
“These international consortiums are not only bringing capital but also technical expertise and global credibility to the IKN housing development,” Agung cited.
He noted that the strong market response confirms the growing international confidence in Indonesia’s new capital and reinforces PPP as a viable model for large-scale infrastructure projects.
The involvement of major global players is a strategic milestone in the IKN development, intended to demonstrate to the world that Nusantara is not just a national project − but a global one.
