President Prabowo Subianto is reportedly set to appoint former Chairman of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) for the 2009–2014 term, Hadi Poernomo, as Special Presidential Advisor on State Revenue.
According to Katadata.co.id, the decision is outlined in a partial image of a Presidential Decree (Keppres). The decree also states that Hadi Poernomo will receive financial entitlements and other benefits equivalent to those of a ministerial position.
The document reads:
“Appointing Dr. Drs. Hadi Poernomo, S.H., Ak., C.A., M.B.A., as Special Presidential Advisor on State Revenue,”
as quoted on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
In addition to leading the BPK, Hadi Poernomo previously served as Director General of Taxation at the Ministry of Finance from 2001 to 2006. In 2014, he was named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in a case involving an alleged corruption in a tax objection request filed by Bank Central Asia (BCA). At the time, then KPK Chairman Abraham Samad said that Hadi was charged in his capacity as Director General of Taxation under Article 2(1) and/or Article 3 of the Anti-Corruption Law in conjunction with Article 55(1)(1) of the Criminal Code.
Hadi later filed a lawsuit against the KPK, which was granted by the South Jakarta District Court in 2014. He also challenged the Ministry of Finance over an investigative audit report issued on June 17, 2010, which served as the basis for the KPK’s inquiry into the BCA tax case.
Despite the controversy, Hadi Poernomo was awarded the prestigious Bintang Mahaputera Utama honor by Indonesia's 7th President, Joko Widodo, in 2019.
