Over the past four years, PERTIWI (Perempuan Pertamina Tangguh Inspiratif Wibawa Integritas) has emerged as a driving force in empowering female employees across Pertamina Group and its subsidiaries.

The women-led community has nurtured 40 female leaders at various levels within the organization, reinforcing the state owned energy company Pertamina’s commitment to gender equity and sustainable leadership.

Emma Sri Martini, Pertamina’s Finance Director and Chair of PERTIWI, emphasized that the initiative serves as a strategic platform for personal development, collaboration, and contributions to the company’s success.

“A leader must lead by example and act in alignment with their words. Global challenges require us to keep Pertamina on course through professionalism and integrity,” Emma said in a statement on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

PERTIWI has launched numerous initiatives designed to prepare women for leadership roles. Among its key programs are KickOff & Upskilling, Coaching & Mentoring, PERTIWI Financial Literacy Week, and the PERTIWI Awards, which recognize outstanding female employees.

One of its flagship programs, Women Leadership Accelerator (Women Leap), has produced 40 new female leaders within the company. The initiative aims to build confidence, capability, and readiness for women to take on strategic roles in the future.

Looking ahead, Emma affirmed PERTIWI’s broader mission. “This is not just about gender equality − it's part of a long-term sustainability strategy through a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) approach. PERTIWI aims to become a national force in female empowerment, contributing meaningfully to sustainable development in Indonesia,” she said.

Pertamina Vice President for Corporate Communication, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, noted that Pertamina provides expansive opportunities for women to advance across all business sectors. As of the end of 2024, women accounted for 18.4 percent of leadership positions at Pertamina Group, with female employees representing 20.3 percent of the total workforce − up from 19.4 percent in 2023.

“The representation of female leaders in Pertamina is relatively high and will co ntinue to increase in line with directives from the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises to boost women’s leadership across SOEs,” Fadjar said.

He highlighted the continued commitment to programs like the Pertamina UMK Academy, which supports local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and aims to help them go global and stimulate local economies.

Pertamina is also determined to support the nation’s net zero emission target by 2060. Through initiatives like PERTIWI, Pertamina aligns its efforts with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strengthens its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles across all its operations.
