PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) Kalimantan Region, held a sail away ceremony for the second phase of the Sisi Nubi Area of Interest (SNB AOI) Project for topside platforms WPN7 and WPN8 at PT Meindo Elang Indah facility, Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

Tuesday’s event is a continuation of the first phase of sail away on April 28, 2025 for topside platforms WPS4 and WPS5, while the third phase is planned for May 16, 2025 for WPN5 and WPN6.

This project is part of PHM's efforts to maintain sustainability of oil and gas production from the Mahakam Working Area in East Kalimantan.

PHM General Manager, Setyo Sapto Edi, emphasized the importance of the SNB AOI Project as a manifestation of the company's commitment to supporting national energy security.

"This project supports increased gas and oil (condensate) production with an average design capacity of 30 MMSCFD per platform," Setyo said in a statement.

He emphasized that drilling is planned for the second semester of 2025 with an onstream target in the fourth quarter.

"The application of technology, such as Suction Pile Foundation, and good project management are the keys to maintaining operational reliability," he said.

To date, six jacket platform units have been installed by means of Suction Pile technology, a new and first approach in Indonesia, which allows for fast and environmentally friendly installation of subsea structures.

In addition, six subsea pipeline segments with a total length of 22 km have also been completed on schedule, connecting the new platform with existing facilities.

Setyo appreciated the achievement of more than 7 million Safe Working Hours in this project. "We always prioritize work safety and environmental sustainability in every operation," he cited.

Senior Expert Project Management Office Upstream of holding company PT Pertamina, Bambang Arief Wicaksono, added that this project is one of the investment priorities of Pertamina's Upstream Subholding.

"The success of this project will significantly contributeto the achievement of Pertamina's overall investment performance," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Project Management Department of the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Task Force’s (SKK Migas) Project Management Division, Kosario M. Kautsar, said the SNB AOI project is one of 15 upstream oil and gas projects targeted to be onstream in the fourth quarter of 2025.

“We encourage PHM to continue to maintain focus on safety and project completion in accordance with the Working Program & Budget (WP&B) 2025 commitment," Kosario said.
