A tropical delight from the heart of Purbalingga has made its way onto the global stage. NanasQu, a local micro-enterprise supported by State energy company PT Pertamina, is now exporting its processed pineapple products to countries like China, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye.

This success story stems from a combination of innovation, perseverance, and structured mentorship provided through Pertamina’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program. From syrup and sponge cakes to pineapple crisps and chili sauce, NanasQu transforms fresh pineapples into a wide array of high-value products.

Based in Siwarak Village, Karangreja sub-district, Purbalingga, Central Java, NanasQu has become an economic catalyst for the region by partnering with over 900 local pineapple farmers. At the helm is Ngudiono, the founder of NanasQu, who has a vision of building an inclusive horticultural network that directly benefits local communities.

Ngudiono implemented strategies to elevate product quality, improve packaging design, and secure international certifications − key moves that opened the door to overseas markets. As of now, Indonesia ranks as the second-largest pineapple exporter in the world.

“We are very grateful for Pertamina’s support, which has gone beyond training and mentoring to helping us access export markets. Our products are now being introduced in the Middle East and Turkiye,” Ngudiono said on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

In recognition of its efforts in building a sustainable agricultural ecosystem, NanasQu was awarded first place in the Pertapreneur Aggregator 2024, a prestigious accolade from Pertamina for local businesses driving regional economies.

“With a strong business strategy and sustainable practices, we believe NanasQu has the potential to grow even further, especially with ongoing support from Pertamina,” Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Pertamina Vice President for Corporate Communication, said.

He emphasized that NanasQu’s growing international reach not only promotes Purbalingga but also strengthens Indonesia’s global reputation as a top producer of tropical pineapples. The brand's sweet success symbolizes the power of collaboration, innovation, and community-driven enterprise.

“NanasQu proves that Indonesian MSMEs can compete on a global scale. It’s a shining example of how partnerships between state-owned enterprises and local communities can open up new economic opportunities while showcasing the richness of Indonesian produce to the world,” Fadjar said.

Beyond its commercial success, NanasQu’s achievements align with the national vision outlined in the Asta Cita program of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Specifically, it supports the third point − creating quality employment, encouraging entrepreneurship, developing the creative industry, and advancing infrastructure.
