President and ministers strategize Agrinas expansion to boost food security

Prabowo-gaza
President Prabowo Subianto summoned a number of Red-and-White Cabinet ministers to the Merdeka Palace on Monday, March 24, 2025 to discuss the performance prospects of Agrinas.
Earlier, the government had changed three State-owned engineering consultancy firms (BUMN Karya) into food management companies, such as PT Yodya Karya into PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, PT Virama Karya into PT Agrinas Jaladri Nusantara and PT Indra Karya into PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara.
Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, said the discussion on Agrinas includes readiness across ministries and institutions, including the Ministry of Agriculture to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
He cited that the limited meeting discussed the management of the cassava and rice food sector and plans for fish farming in a 20 thousand hectare (ha) facility on Java Island. The meeting also discussed the continuation of the development of oil palm plantations on 1 million ha of land through PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara.
Currently, there are around 221 thousand hectares of land that have been managed. However, 145 thousand hectares still need improvement and the rest still need new planting.
In addition, the meeting also discussed the development of six logistics hubs for food production. This aims to ensure that domestic food supplies do not depend on just one or two companies.
The government also plans to build rice and corn processing facilities through the rice and corn processing unit (RnU) scheme.
Minister of Investment and Downstream Rosan Perkasa Roeslani said that the management of the three Agrinas companies will not use state capital injections (PMN).
Rosan said that financial support for the three new State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) would come from dividends received from SOEs that are part of Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara).
"So we analyze all of that, later according to the criteria and parameters. But in essence, we (as) Danantara as the holding company of Agrinas," Rosan, who is also CEO of Danantara, said.
He said Danantara would evaluate Agrinas' needs and financial structure to ensure the company has a strong foundation.
Meanwhile, the Agrinas limited meeting was also attended by Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono and Head of the National Food Agency Arief Prasetyo Adi.
