Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto have announced the plan to set up a special study team − titled Special Team for Resolving Investment Barriers − to evaluate regulations that have the potential to hinder investment in Indonesia.

This team was formed considering the yet conducive global economic conditions and tasked to pursue the economic growth target of 8 percent as aspired by President Prabowo Subianto.

"I believe that with solid coordination between DEN, the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, and all related Ministries/Institutions, we are able to present more effective policies for national economic growth and primarily provide broad benefits for the welfare of the Indonesian people," Luhut said on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

He emphasized that achieving the 8 percent growth target is not an easy matter as it needs to be encouraged by efforts to revitalize labor-intensive industries, accelerate investment, and strengthen public digital infrastructure so that job creation also increases.

"Once again, this is not an easy target. But I am sure that with the right strategy through revitalizing labor-intensive industries, accelerating investment, and strengthening public digital infrastructure, we can achieve President Prabowo's great mission," the Economic Council chief said.

Meanwhile, Airlangga said the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy and DEN will also encourage a review of the tax holiday policy, in anticipation of the global minimum tax of 15 percent, and will coordinate further with the Ministry of Finance to strengthen the existing Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and accelerating the determination of SEZ proposals.

According to Airlangga, the government will continue to push for the acceleration of the development of SEZs, one of which is the Kura-Kura Bali SEZ, as well as encouraging quality tourism in Bali.
