Laughter echoed in the corner of the room, despite some pale faces showing signs of exhaustion from ongoing treatments.

That afternoon, at a shelter home run by the Indonesian Care for Children with Cancer Foundation (YKAKI), dozens of children gathered with bright eyes. They were not only waiting to break their fast but also experiencing a rare warmth of togetherness beyond hospital walls.

This Ramadan felt even more special for them. Under the theme “From the heart for everyone, a meaningful Ramadan,” Indonesia’s state-owned mining holding company, MIND ID, brought joy to the children − not just through aid but also through care, affection, and the time they needed amid their fight against illness.

MIND ID’s Corporate Secretary, Heri Yusuf, emphasized that Ramadan is a time to actively share kindness, especially with children struggling for their lives.

“We want to be present not just as a company but as part of a family that cares and continuously supports them in their fight. Seeing the children’s smiles today is an invaluable joy for us,” Heri said as quoted in a statement on Friday, March 14, 2025.

The joy was further enhanced with interactive activities such as coloring calligraphy, reciting short Quranic verses, and an Islamic quiz, which the children enthusiastically participated in. Towards the end of the event, a sense of emotion filled the room. While enjoying prepared meal boxes and traditional snacks, the children listened to motivational stories, giving them strength to continue their battle.

As a gesture of support, MIND ID provided financial assistance to 50 children with cancer and 42 foundation caretakers who accompany them daily. Additionally, staple food packages were distributed to help fulfill their daily needs.

To make the moment even warmer, MIND ID also gifted souvenir packages containing water bottles, lunch boxes, honey, gluten-free cookies, and tumblers for the foundation’s caretakers.

Heri Yusuf added that this initiative is part of MIND ID’s Ramadan Safari program, aimed at spreading happiness to those in need.

“In this blessed month, happiness is not measured by how much we give, but by how deeply we touch the hearts of those in need,” he said.
