The House of Representatives’ (DPR) Trade and State-owned Enterprises Commission VI has welcomed the appointment of Maroef Sjamsoeddin as President Director of MIND ID, citing his capacity to address governance challenges within the MIND ID Group.
Commission VI member Mufti Aimah Nurul Anam said that MIND ID, under Maroef’s leadership, is expected to tackle long-standing governance issues within the group.
"The public has witnessed Maroef Sjamsoeddin’s integrity and courage in exposing cases despite facing powerful figures at the time. He has the bravery to take on such challenges," Mufti of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) faction said in a hearing on Thursday, March 13, 2025.
Another member of Commission VI, Sartono Hutomo of Democrat Party faction, acknowledged MIND ID’s strong financial performance, which has shown consistent positive growth. However, he emphasized the need for more intensive efforts to address governance challenges.
Meanwhile, Commission VI member Nasril Bahar of the National Mandate Party (PAN) faction expressed hope that Maroef would take a more proactive role in promoting the downstream processing of MIND ID’s resources. He stressed the importance of increasing MIND ID Group’s commitment to downstream mineral processing to maximize the economic benefits of Indonesia’s natural resources.
Maroef, in response, affirmed that MIND ID is a state-owned company established to manage resources optimally and sustainably. As a mining industry holding company, MIND ID aims to become a world-class enterprise that manages resources sustainably, adds value, and strengthens the resilience of the mining industry.
He emphasized that his mandate to lead MIND ID comes directly from the President and that his accountability is to the Indonesian people.
"This is not an easy responsibility. However, with input and suggestions, we can fulfill our duties effectively," Maroef concluded.
