TBS Energi advances renewable push with floating solar and hydro projects
PLTS
Energy company PT TBS Energi Utama (TBS) has completed the Financial Closing Date of the floating solar power plant (PLTS) project in Tembesi, Batam, while successfully carrying out the Commercial Operation Date of the mini-hydro power plant (PLTM) in Lampung.
Dicky Yordan, President Director of TBS, said that the floating PLTS project in Tembesi is a significant step in utilizing solar energy efficiently and sustainably.
The Tembesi Floating Solar Power Project was developed in collaboration with PLN Nusantara Power, a subsidiary of state power utility company PT PLN. It is expected to contribute to Indonesia's renewable energy mix by utilizing innovative floating solar technology.
"With an installed capacity of 46 MWp (Megawatt peak), this power plant will be one of the significant renewable energy innovations in Batam," he said, on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
The next stage after the Financial Closing Date is to start the construction phase with the target of completing full commercial operations and being integrated into the national electricity grid around the fourth quarter of 2025.
Meanwhile, the success of the Commercial Operation Date of the PLTM in Lampung reflects TBS's approach to diversifying renewable energy development.
In addition, hydropower is an important component of TBS's renewable energy strategy, as it provides stable and sustainable energy output that can complement other intermittent renewable energy sources such as solar and wind. This momentum confirms TBS's commitment to TBS2030 in building a sustainable and low-carbon business.
"Along with our transformation journey, this achievement is a real proof of our commitment to a greener future. The Financial Closing Date of the floating PLTS project and the Commercial Operation Date of the PLTM are not only business achievements, but also important steps in supporting Indonesia's energy transition," said Dicky.
