The Ministry of Manpower says that former workers of textile company PT Sri Rejeki Isman (Sritex) have the opportunity to return back to work at the same company, but has yet to decide on which of the company’s factories that are ready to accommodate them.

Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, said on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 that the ministry will coordinate the technical and mechanism for the re-absorption of Sritex workers after bankruptcy. According to him, the curator team has opened up opportunities for them to return to work at the same company.

"We will try to coordinate regarding the mechanism and technicalities of reabsorbing former Sritex workers to the company. We will be present to oversee the process," Yassierli said.

Sritex confirmed the termination of its operations through the Sritex bankruptcy creditors meeting on February 28, 2025. The company officilly closed on the following day.

Established in 1978, Sritex Group is headquartered in Sukoharjo, Central Java. It consists of Sritex Sukoharjo, Primayudha Boyolali, Sinar Pantja Djaja Semarang and Bitratex Semarang.

Previously, the curator team planned to rent Sritex's production equipment to investors to maintain the company's asset value. This step is in line with the government's plan to revive Sritex which officially stopped operations on March 1, 2025.

Then, the selected investors are expected to be able to reabsorb the workforce, including employees who were previously laid off. Currently, the curator team has communicated with a number of potential investors in the textile industry.

"I don't know yet how many former Sritex workers will be reabsorbed. However, Sritex is a group, so we have to look at the data as a whole and wait for the results of the curator's decision," Indah Anggoro Putri, Director General of Industrial Relations and Social Security for Employment at the Ministry of Manpower, said.

Meanwhile, the Sritex Group curator team is committed to fulfilling the rights of former employees including severance pay. With a focus on disbursing the Old Age Security and Job Loss Security funds belonging to former Sritex workers before Idul Fitri 2025.
